The Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation announced recently it has four new members coming aboard.

They'll replace founding members Paige Bisset, Mark Laberge and Claude Lacroix, who each served nine years, as well as Sylvain Séguin, who has served since 2010.

“The recent success of the airport can certainly be attributed, in part, to the dedication and experience of these four directors during their terms,” incoming Chair Bish Bora said in a news release.

“In particular, I’d like to thank our past chair, Claude Lacroix, whose direction and leadership have guided the SACDC through some challenging decisions during his tenure.”

New board members include Lise Poratto-Mason, a partner with a local law firm, Mason, Poratto-Mason LLP; Chris Mercer, chief of staff at Laurentian University; Gregory Séguin, project manager at Lopes Ltd.; and, Monique Forsyth, a partner at Northern Voice and Data, a local telecommunications company.

"While the loss of four valued and experienced Directors will certainly be felt at the Board level, we are excited about the incoming Directors," Bora said in the release.

"Each of the them have ambitious ideas, unique expertise and are genuinely interested in assisting the airport through its next phase of development.”

The Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation was created following the transfer of the facility from Transport Canada in March 2000.

The 12-member volunteer board oversees the affairs of the airport. It includes two city councillors, two members of the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation, seven members of the public and the CAO of Greater Sudbury, who is an ex-officio, non-voting director.
